Intro

It starts with an idea or the absence of an idea, a need for a solution. Whatever we create, we are designing solutions by writing. We use writing to flush them out. We use writing to realize ideas.

We write to manage projects, to communicate along the way and within the work. We use writing to define our goals, our missions, and ourselves.

Writing is the process, the documentation of the process, the refinement of the process and the product.

You have a story to tell, a vision for solutions as yet absent. I’ll flush it out with you and get to work. Talk to me. I’ll write for you. I’ll design a system for processing your ideas. I will work until they are realized. By writing, I process and communicate, refine and produce, and optimize the realization of your vision.

Testimonials

“Carolyn and I have been writing together for over two years now, and it’s been a wonderful partnership that has made me a better writer and editor. Her feedback is incredibly valuable and well-delivered because she understands the creative mindset. She pays close and careful attention, values and understands the writing process, and is also a discerning editor with strong critiquing skills who helps me identify every opportunity to make my work better.

I also provide feedback on Carolyn’s fabulous work-in-progress, and she is always welcoming and open-minded about my suggestions. She not only takes criticism well, but fearlessly seeks out fresh ideas. I always look forward to our meetings, not only so I can read the latest chapter of Carolyn’s book and hear her valuable insights about mine, but also because she is lovely and a pleasure to work with.”

“Carolyn Griffin is a dynamic artist who seeks not only to elevate her own work but also that of others. I came to know Carolyn through the writers’ group that she initiated at the Wiscasset Public Library in August 2023. In her role managing the group, she demonstrates not only organization and effective communication but also the ability to empathetically connect with each member as an individual. Of course, she keeps track of our written submissions and ensures everyone has the needed copies for meetings, but she also keeps track of us. When one member stopped attending due to a health issue and impending surgery, Carolyn made sure to stay in contact and encouraged everyone else to send healing wishes. When another member has to stop driving to meetings due to shortened daylight hours, Carolyn comes early to pick her up. Carolyn seeks out additional opportunities for the writers’ group, such having a visiting poet read from his work and then engage in conversation about writing. Our group counts on Carolyn to keep our critique sessions moving smoothly—she divides the time, sets the stopwatch, and keeps us on point. Most importantly, she takes her time with every member’s submission and prepares meaningful and actionable feedback, which she delivers clearly and thoughtfully. She poses good questions to the writer, questions that guide that person to examine their own thinking or to dig deeper to clarify ideas that need to be better expressed in the writing. Carolyn also receives criticism well, honestly considering feedback from everyone. Anyone can start something—a job, a novel, a writer’s group, but it takes vision and grit to keep that something moving forward to success; that is what Carolyn excels at.”
